I guess this is what you call "playing catch-up"
:-/
A couple weeks ago we went out to Nebraska and practiced singing some songs with the Smith family. We'll be singing at a wedding this next weekend.
While there I worked with Aaron and Micah of Saturday.
We worked at a large college dorm that was being remodeled.
The view from an upper window- quite the field out there!
This is what I worked on- putting whips (the coiled flex conduit) on the ceilings.
It was great fun and simple enough that even my half-brain could understand and accomplish it :P
Here's one of the "finished" rooms. It was still getting the final touches applied, but this was about it...
Ah, drywall mud!! I'd rather do that than wiring, but you know, one must do what one must do :)
A main hallway. There were 7 floor to do.
The infamous staircase- after running down all 7 flights one gets a little dizzy from all the turning!
Micah, trying to fish some wire down to an outlet, where Aaron waited in anticipation.
Fast forwarding to this week... we had a nice snow storm- dumped about 5" and blew for a day or so.
Driving into Griswold- our hometown.
And... Casey's general store! Great pizza, nice selection of Gatorade, good sales on Frappachino's and... wait, it that a beer truck? Sorry.... :-/ It IS a general store of the world, so... there's just certain things you just don't buy there!!
I've been studying up for MMI and it's been pretty intense at times... Here's the first book I'm studying. I'm also going through a DVD set (did I mention that previously? Can't remember) on Anatomy and Physiology. Intriguing stuff...
And finally a deck we finished up the other day! It was really fun...
Decks are one of my favorite structures to build... something about that wood that's just pretty.
Trying to get everything JUST right is really enjoyable too...
This one was fairly simple too, so that helped it go faster :)
The weather was so cold my feet kept going numb and my fingers would hurt and grow stiff.
So, Ben suggested I get some heat packs at Casey's... so off I trooped to get some.
I ended up getting 4 double packs so there would be some to go around. It helped a lot, and I got some fresh potato wedges for the guys- flaming hot, well seasoned slices of warm goodness on a hot day. It was very rewarding to see everyone's faces when I pulled them out- it was great to have them on a cold day!
Ryan showed up on day 2 of working there with some hot chocolate- yum :)
The guys worked great, considering it was REALLY cold out! Great job guys...
That's all for now I guess. It's about 11:30pm here and we've got to hit a siding job hard the next 3 days, so I'd better hit the hay :)
God bless you all!
